What each destination takes
| Destination | Format | Length | What LimeLight makes |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | 16:9 · 1080p free, 1440p on Creator, 4K on Studio · 30 or 60 fps | The whole song | MP4 with stereo AAC, chapters in the description, the last 20 s clear for the end screen, a 1280 × 720 thumbnail from the drop |
| Shorts · Reels · TikTok · Facebook | 9:16 · 1080 × 1920 | The whole song under 3 minutes, or the best 30 seconds | Titles and lyrics kept inside the phone-safe band; the 30-second teaser cuts the three loudest sections |
| Spotify Canvas | 9:16 · 720 to 1080 px tall · no audio | 8 seconds | A silent seamless loop from the song's most intense moment, kept calm, no titles — Spotify's own spec |
| Apple Music motion cover | 1:1 at 3840 (or 2160) and 3:4 at 2048 × 2732 | 20 seconds | Opens and closes on the still artwork, loops without a seam — in the release pack |
| Suno song art | 9:16 · 720 px tall · no audio | 10 seconds | The loop Suno's song page takes — in the release pack |
| Square (X, Threads) | 1:1 · 1080 × 1080 | The whole song or a range | Under Adjust › Format — Instagram and Facebook take the 9:16 Reel, which opens on the picture so the grid tile is never black |
Questions
Do my files get uploaded?
No. The song and the artwork stay in your browser and the video renders on your own computer. When you are signed in, a project's SETTINGS (look, colours, title, lyrics text) sync to your account so it reopens on another device — never the media. A few optional paid features say so at the button: transcribing lyrics sends the audio to a speech service, “Extend the cover” sends the cover to an image service, and posting from the Social tab keeps a signed, expiring copy of the finished video for the few minutes the platforms take to fetch it. Posting straight to YouTube or Facebook with your own login takes the file from your browser. The privacy policy lists everything.
Does it work with songs made in Suno or Udio?
Yes. Any MP3, WAV, FLAC or M4A works, and the song's own tags fill in the title, artist, album and cover when the file carries them. One thing to check before you monetise: Suno keeps the rights to songs made on its free plan and allows only personal, non-commercial use — songs made while on its paid plans are yours to release.
Can I use the videos commercially?
Yes, on every plan — Free included — as long as you own the music or have the rights to it: monetise the upload, run it as an ad, sell it. Free exports have no watermark on the picture and close on a three-second “Made with LimeLight” card; Creator and the release pass remove the card. Making videos for other people’s music as a paid service (clients, labels) is what Studio is for.
How long does a render take?
About forty seconds for a three-minute song on a desktop with a recent graphics card, at 720p or 1080p — the video encoder sets the pace, so the two are close; a laptop takes longer, and so does 4K. Nothing queues, so it never waits on anyone else's render.
Which formats can I export?
16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, and square — MP4 with stereo AAC audio at 30 or 60 fps — plus a silent 8-second Spotify Canvas and a looping motion cover, or the whole release pack in one click.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open the studio in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer. A phone can preview looks, but exporting needs a desktop browser's video encoder.
What is a release pass?
A single $4 payment that lets you export one song at the Creator plan's finish — up to 1440p, every format at once, 60 fps, no end card — with no subscription. It sits on your account until you use it and is spent once that export's first file has saved, never when a render starts — a render that saves nothing costs nothing. In the export dialog tick “Use a release pass”.
Why does my video end on a LimeLight card?
That is the free plan: unlimited exports, every look, 1080p, no watermark on the picture — only a three-second “Made with LimeLight” card over the last seconds. Creator ($10 a month) or a $4 release pass for one song removes it and adds 1440p, 60 fps and every format at once; 4K and transparent video are on Studio.
What is transparent video?
On Studio, the visualizer alone — the bars, the rings, the particles, the title and lyrics — on no background, as a WebM with an alpha channel. Drop it over your own footage in Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or Final Cut and the moving parts sit on top of it, still timed to the song.
The drop is in the wrong place — can I fix it?
Yes. On the transport under the picture, drag the drop chip (or a section word) and the section starts where you put it, snapped to the beat. Double-click it to change its word or the scene it becomes. “Sections edited · reset” puts the analysis back.
Why does the picture change on its own?
The song's sections edit the picture: quiet parts pull in, the drop opens up, the ground changes between sections. Motion › “Changes with the song” sets how much; the Shows go further and give every section its own scene.
Can I use my own font, logo or photos?
Yes — Media › Your font (.ttf, .otf, .woff2) is the face for the title and lyrics; Media › Logo puts your mark in a corner, under the artwork or along the bottom, with its size, strength and when it shows; Background photos make a slideshow that changes on the beat; footage plays behind the cover and cuts on the beat.
Does anything ever leave my browser?
Your song and artwork never do to make the video — it renders on your own computer. When you are signed in, a project's settings (look, colours, title, lyrics text — never the media) sync to your account. Everything else is optional and says so at its button: transcribing lyrics (paid) sends the audio to a speech service; the AI picture tools send your words, and “Extend the cover” the cover; posting uploads the finished video to the platforms you pick; sharing a look publishes its settings; and the export-stats box, if you tick it, sends a few numbers about the song, never audio. “Make it 3D” and “Time them to the singing” download a model once and run it in your browser, sending nothing. The privacy policy lists every one.
How do I cancel or get an invoice?
Your account page opens Stripe's customer portal: cancel at the end of the period, change the card, download every invoice. Nothing is charged after you cancel.
It says my browser can't export.
Exporting uses the browser's own H.264 video encoder, which current Chrome, Edge, Firefox (130+) and Safari (16.4+) have on a computer; where a browser has no AAC sound encoder, LimeLight brings its own. An older browser or a phone cannot write the MP4 — update the browser, or open the same link on a computer. Chrome and Edge also save a release pack straight into one folder.
My cover's words are cut off.
Pick the Rounded square frame, or a rectangular one (Card, Rounded), to show the whole picture. On a round frame open Frame › Cover options › What goes in the circle and choose “Whole cover, rounded square” (the whole cover, only the corner tips softened) or “Whole cover, mirrored”.
Can I make one video for a whole album?
Yes — Album on the rail. Drop the folder: one project per song sharing the cover (or each song's own picture named like the song). Render a video per song as numbered files, or one show with crossfades and a tracklist.
